Company Summary :

Pure Ocean Algae has, over the past 5 years, focused its attention on developing sustainable, macroalgae based infrastructure, aquaculture licensing, as well as developing unique seaweed-based products, positioning the company at the forefront of Ireland’s marine bio-economy. 

Key highlights:

• Pure Ocean Algae (POA) owns 40 Hectares of licensed Seaweed growing sites as well as a 30,000 sq ft. state of the art, fully licensed, equipped, hatchery and primary processing facility. 
• Utilising previous Commercial aquaculture experience and supported by Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), the company is the first to have developed commercial scale production of Palmaria palmata and other macro-algae species, which can be used to produce ingredients for the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical sectors.
• POA has developed, food grade, industry specific drying and milling capabilities, designed to process its own raw material, as well as, providing these services to the general macro-algae Industry.
• POA has also developed various product ranges including seaweed based functional food supplements and plant Biostimulent products.
• POA is the only commercial seaweed hatchery in Ireland. This has been a major bottleneck for the seaweed industry until now. POA can supply this material to other farmers, and utilise purchase buyback contracts to maintain continuity of supply.
